I was reading a list of famous community service quotes. This one in particular caught my attention and got me thinking. At first, I thought it meant that every person is valuable in his or her own unique way. Then, I remembered how this quote is in a list of famous community service quotes, so I started to think on its relation to community service.
Personally, I feel that in relation to community service it means no matter what type of volunteering you do it is still volunteering, so it is still making a change even if that change is small.
What about you? How do you think this Dr. Seuss quote relates to community service?

I think it is awesome that you brought this up Val! I definitely agree that the size of the volunteer project is insignificant when compared aginst the benefits it has for everybody involved. I also have a thought about this quote: To me, it doesn’t matter how “big” an individual is (and I use big as a catch-all to include the typical adjectives associated with a person who others perceieve as more Important, adept, influential, wealthy, etc. ad nauseum!). The important thing is that the individual has a desire to selflessly make a change for the better in the life of someone whom he/she may not even know. When a volunteer is measured against this standard, it is easy to see that the most giving, selfless volunteer is the most important volunteer, no matter how small their contribution is perceived to be.
