When I think back on my childhood, some of my most enjoyable memories happened at one event: The Civil War Revisited.  This event is put on every fall by the Fresno Historic Society, an organization dedicated to communicating the idea of history as a story, rather than a musty old textbook. Through events like this, they try to help Valley residents attain a sense of where they’ve come from.

At the reenactment with other students... and Abraham Lincoln!

Two weekends ago, I had the pleasure of volunteering at the reenactment with other students from Fresno State.  Specifically, I was given the task of helping to take down the Camp Night Dinner. While volunteering, I was able to interact with very skilled actors portraying Abraham Lincoln, Sojourner Truth, and countless soldiers!  I’m convinced that this volunteer experience helped take me one step closer to the story. This was my third time volunteering at The Civil War Revisited, and you can expect me to be back next year too!
