Hey everyone!

The Ambassadors had a great time finishing up our Winter Break with a visit to Cal State L.A., where we met with student leaders in community engagement from across the CSU system! The event was hosted by student leaders from CSU Chico and Cal State L.A.: two universities that excel in student-run service. Incredibly, the student programs for community engagement at these Universities were both founded in 1966! As the Richter Center Ambassadors program is new and still blossoming, it was great to get advice and guidance from some well-established groups. We spent the day discussing, workshopping, networking, and sharing our hopes and fears about how to make student leaders effective in advancing community engagement at our own universities. We even made a skit about it!

We all left at the end of the day feeling invigorated not just about how far we’ve come in the year and a half since our inception, but especially about how far we will go. We came up with some great new plans to strengthen our group in order to continue to promote the causes of community engagement and service-learning at Fresno State. We can’t wait to see what the coming semester – and coming years – will hold!
